Social awareness :

- A Rover Scout has developed beyond the stage of simple self-interest and is able to control his personal prejudices. He takes an active interest in his environment, and he is prepared to be of service to others.

• Help others, whether by taking on a responsibility within scouting or by working for some other organization.
• Want to learn how the natural community of which he is a part functions: family, profession, region, country etc.
• Avoid all social or educational sectarianism.
• Have precise ideas on the matters of marriage and vocation.
• Prepare himself, if need be, for the responsibilities of a head of family.
• Be well-balanced and have reached emotional maturity (good relationship with the opposite sex, healthy and Christian life style etc).
• Maintain the Christian traditions: hospitality, support for the elderly etc.
• Study the history of his country, its physical and social geography, its administrative structure.
• Know the essentials about his country's special place in the wider world, and be aware of the crisis of our time.
• Show respect for his various responsibilities as a citizen: the Highway Code, a clean environment, taxes and duties, national service (if relevant in his country), elections etc.

Professional activities :

- A Rover Scout is part of the wider society. He strives to apply the social doctrine of the Church in his work.

• Be aware that his duty to the state is of prime importance.
• Choose his trade or profession intelligently, according to his talents, without such considerations as conformism or glory.
• Follow his course of training conscientiously (university, apprenticeship, vocational training etc).
• Use his free time for worthwhile activities, not just distractions.
• Know, at least in main outlines:
• The social teaching of the Church
• The basic principles of work legislation
• Make it a duty not to evade responsibilities.
• Watch that professional demands conform with Christian doctrine and the greater interests of the country.
• Practice his trade or profession in a humane fashion; be prepared to help, and not become immobilized by administrative procedures and red tape.
